Brand-new, never-worn engagement ring by Lorel Diamonds, crafted in 950 platinum and set with a 0.80 ct natural Zambian emerald surrounded by 0.40 ct of natural diamonds.

At the centre is a round Zambian emerald, described as AAA quality on the accompanying paperwork. Zambian emeralds are particularly admired for their rich, vivid green colour, often with an attractive cooler or subtly bluish undertone.

Emerald is May’s birthstone and is also closely associated with Taurus, making it a particularly personal choice for someone born under that sign. Its appeal, however, reaches far beyond birthdays or astrology. Natural emeralds often contain tiny, garden-like inclusions known as a jardin—French for “garden”—giving each stone an inner landscape of its own. For an engagement ring, that combination of vivid colour, individuality and long associations with love, renewal and enduring bonds gives emerald a depth that a more conventional centre stone cannot imitate.

The centre stone is framed by a fine diamond halo, with further diamonds set along the shoulders. The diamonds have a combined stated weight of 0.40ct and are graded on the paperwork as:

• F colour — within the colourless range, giving the diamonds a bright, clean appearance
• VS clarity — high clarity, with inclusions generally difficult to see without magnification
• Very Good cut — allowing the diamonds to reflect light effectively

The emerald and diamond weights are stated separately: 0.80ct natural emerald and 0.40ct total natural diamond weight.

The ring is made in 950 platinum, a naturally white, durable precious metal particularly well suited to fine gemstone and diamond settings. The raised halo and open gallery allow light into the emerald, while the diamond-set shoulders taper elegantly into the polished platinum shank.

The ring is supplied with its original Lorel Diamonds presentation box, outer box, paperwork and valuation certificate. The certificate records a valuation of £3,032.98 at the time it was issued. Personal details have been redacted from the photographs, while the gemstone, grading and valuation information remain visible.

Priced at £2,650, it offers the opportunity to purchase an unworn, fully documented platinum emerald and diamond ring for considerably less than the likely cost of commissioning a comparable piece new.
